My Travel Story

Hello, I'm currently an Honors student from Arcadia University who just got accepted to a study abroad program at the University of Wollongong, Australia. I intend on completing my Spring semester of my Junior year studying in the small seaside town of Wollongong, New South Wales, an hour south of Sydney. This is an exciting and once in a lifetime opportunity since I have never been out of the country for any extended period of time. It is through study abroad that I hope to hone my sense of independence as well as develop a more global perspective and appreciation for other cultures. I currently juggle 3 jobs on top of maintaining a full course load at my University. So far, I take great pride in the fact that I'm a first generation college student majoring in Computer Science who has not had to resort to loans in order to finance her education. Due to some familial hardships, finances have always been a bit of an issue. My stepdad lost his job unexpectedly back in July and so far has not been able to secure a new job since, making my mother the sole breadwinner. Currently, I have worked the maximum amount of hours allotted at my jobs without having my classes suffer through the semester. I'm excited and grateful to be offered such a wonderful opportunity because I know it will benefit me both academically and professionally. I want to be able to take advantage of travel while in undergrad so I can appreciate a new culture. Unfortunately, due to senior graduation requirements, this will be the last time in undergrad where I will be eligible to study abroad. Any help, donations r advice is greatly appreciated
