We are two young students from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC Chile), looking forward to representing our respective countries (Chile and Brazil) at the Latin American Studies Association. LASA 2018 is the world’s largest professional association for individuals and institutions that participate in the study of Latin America. This year the Conference will be held on May 2018 in the city of Barcelona, Spain, and we were accepted to present the following research works:
  • “The international defence of democracy. The case of Chilean foreign policy in terms of strengthening democratic regime in Latin America” (Michelle Manzur)
  • “Impeachment or “Parliamentary Coup”? A comparative historical analysis of the Presidential Political Trial in Brazil (1953-2017)” (Bruna Fonseca)
We applied to LASA scholarships to help us fund this academic trip, but unfortunately we were not selected for that funding opportunity. Therefore, the funds raised will ensure that we can represent our university and respective countries in a multicultural instance of knowledge exchange, building a bridge between national and international academy. As a way to thank contributors -and also as a proof of our belief regarding democratization of knowledge-, we will leave our academic papers presented at LASA 2018 FREE OF CHARGE.

Thank you very much for your contribution!
