For my son, who deserves the chance to find himself
My son, Callum, has struggled with self-harm, anxiety and depression for many years and the battle to get support from UK mental health services has been horrendous. His school finally gave up on him and said he should be home schooled, and that was when he shined! His thirst for knowledge in history, asian arts, antiques, languages and self development has been unquenchable! But he could barely leave the house, unless accompanied by me. We got to know someone who owns an antique shop in our town and I asked if Callum could volunteer for a few hours a week. That was a year ago, and he's been there nearly every working day since, unpaid, apart from a tenner here and there. When the owner told me that Callum had been over the road, to buy milk for the shop, I nearly fell through the floor!! He had done more for my son than his school, CAMHS and I had done.
Anyway! Callum also found a passion for martial arts, but struggled with large classes. Then he found out about the Kunyu Mountain Shaolin Kung Fu School China. He has researched all about it, read reviews to ensure it's not a scam and decided that whatever money he does get, from volunteering, birthdays etc, will go towards him getting there.
It may seem strange that someone with anxiety would want to travel so far away with little contact to family, yet when I look in my son's eyes, I can see this is what he truly wants. To find himself.
I've attached as many details as I can regarding the school, plus this is what he willl learn and his timetable.
