In the midst of my first semester in college, I found out that the school offers different study abroad programs. The one that caught my interest was to Barcelona, Spain spring of 2018. I choose a more traditional place due to the fact that Citrus Community College does not offer as much locations. I attended a meeting and was captivated with the program and everything it has to offer. What mostly stood out was how studying abroad is an investment that pays off. By not only helping you in the future, with career and life goals but as you as an individual. Being influenced from a hispanic background and being the first generation college student, it would set an example to all my family, but as well the hispanic, low income community. The semester in Spain offers classes I would love to take like SPAN 127, which is the history of the country. Taking this class will give me a distinct way of learning because not only will I learn about it through a textbook but actually experience the history in the place it happened. I am looking forward to immerse myself in a new culture, the culture of my ancestors and perfecting my spanish; even learning a new language Catalan. In addition, I will experience the real deal, by being surrounded by spanish speaking people, and it can’t get any better than that. I’m excited to study in a different environment, and expand my horizons.
