My Travel Story

by: Julia Skowronska Start Date: Dec 29, 2017 - End Date: Dec 28, 2018
I'm the quiet friend in the group. I'm the one who always leaves early, who follows rules, and who is afraid of everything that makes people feel alive.
And I'm so beyond tired of that.
This year I've made the decision to act. I'm finally going to live my life how I've always wanted it. So...I'm going to New Zealand!
New Zealand has been my dream since I was 9 and watched its stunning scenery in Lord of the Rings. And I thought to myself, if I'm going to change my life through travel then why not just go to the farthest place I could possibly find?
My number one reason for doing this trip is that I want to get some confidence and prove to myself that I'm capable of something great. I want to discover the courage to really live life to the fullest. As simple and cliched this may sound.
My second reason is my huge love of nature. New Zealand is one of the most secluded and beautiful countries in the world, and while there, I'm planning to become a volunteer with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand. I want to give something back to this planet, that's why doing this programme is very important to me. It will involve planting trees, construction of walking trails, and general heritage restoration, and it will make me feel like I've properly shown my gratitude.

I'm planning this trip for January-Ferbuary 2019, so I have 1 year to get the necessary funds, plan the trip, and prepare. I'll be applying for the working holiday visa programme, which will allow me to travel and sightsee as well as work and make some extra money to really experience the life there (this will be a 1 year visa). I expect that the overall cost would come to around £5000, though half of it I've saved up already .

I will be eternally grateful if you help me make this dream come true!
