I CAN make a change and help Sri Lankan people!
First of all, I want to thank you for your time and I cannot express how grateful I am for your generosity and support.
I am fundraising to help pay for my flight, insurance and vaccinations expenses for a 5-weeks summer volunteer program in Sri Lanka.
SLV, formerly known as SL Volunteers, provide degree-specific volunteer placements in Sri Lanka. This partcular placement is run in partnership with Samutthana, the King’s College London resource centre for trauma, displacement and mental health in Sri Lanka. Moreover, it offers people the chance to gain work experience in teaching English, coaching sports, working with children and with people with special needs, and working in the mental health sector.
As you may know, I am an almost graduated student of Psychology at Canterbury Christ Church University and I would like to broaden my experience especially in the area of clinical psychology, mental health and well-being. I also believe I can contribute to making a positive change in lives of people, there.
I love being involved in a wide range of activities such as sport events :), creative workshops, etc. helping people and approaching different age groups. With some organising skills and ability to solve conflicts gained while working in church youth programs, leading teams at summer-camps for children and also volunteering at Age UK, it would be a pleasure to try a different type of volunteering. Even if it requires pushing myself out of my comfort zone. :)
