“Based on my studies, I can almost guarantee you one thing: If you don’t do it now, you will wish you had traveled more” - Karl Pillemer, Cornell University

Shown in studies, one of the biggest life regrets people have is not traveling more when they are young. I'm sure you've heard it; "TRAVEL OFTEN, TRAVEL YOUNG". I've never been your average girl, so do I want to fit into this category of regrets? Not at all.

I am now raised with an opportunity I never had the clarity to see. At the young age of 24, my wanderlust is undeniable at this point. I, spending an awful lot of time in relationships, thought I was ready to settle down and have kids, but what have I REALLY done to live a life I'd want my future kids to know about or that could inspire them? Not much. I live in the smallest state in the country and the farthest I have been is Canada. I have always been a hard worker, always had 2 jobs, working 50 hours a week. My mentality was "Work hard now, play later". But what if I don't make it to later? What if I don't have the energy to "play" when the time comes? I've missed countless family events and other things working my life away. Finding myself with minimal obligations besides work, I find it is no better time to travel, without a hitch to keep me around. I do not want to live my life with regrets. Time to step up my passport!

So what has inspired me to go to so many destinations? I'd like to think great teachers who have taught me world history and made it so it really stuck with me and the desire to expand my culture. I once saw a video of people my age at a college campus when faced with pictures of historical figures a majority could not name them but when shown a picture of Kim Kardashian every single person could name her. I was appalled! "Millenials are the worst". As an old soul, I cannot help the generation I was born in but I feel in my bones that I do not want to live my life so ignorantly, so led by pop culture. Yes, we are the generation that no longer gets out. We sit in front of TVs and cell phones, measuring our worth on "likes" on social media, filters on our pictures became more important than a filter on our words. I do not want to be remembered like this. I want to live a life fulfilled.

So where do I intend to go? This trip of a lifetime will be a mix of paradise and history and historical paradise. Each place will have it's own history, it's own flair. But first, I want to start with World War II history. Why this? From a young age I've had a fascination with this time period. My father had memorabilia in the house, pieces of irreplaceable history at my hands, and a great history teacher to broaden my mind on this one. I've watched countless movies, documentaries, but nothing will compare to actually being immersed in it. With the bulk of the trips to Germany, Austria, Poland, Switzerland and Amsterdam, I will be there, not just in front of a TV. Included in this is a WWII walking tour of Berlin, walk in Warsaw, a visit to Anne Frank's house and the somber remains of Auschwitz and Dachau. This will be one of those rare moments that a book or even a lecture from your favorite teacher cannot bring you in. No matter what position you take in politics, to be informed of what dictatorship is and can do can be power. These are the first and most important trips I wish to take. Each other destination on this trip will have its own history and architecture that no picture on Facebook or Instagram will compare to because I will be seeing it with my own eyes. I will be able to go back to my routes - being Italian, Irish and Polish I will bring a part of me "home" for a little while in many of these destinations, while learning about new places and how the rest of the world lives. "Higher learning" as I'd like to call it - where a degree is useless but an education is priceless.

What's in it for you? Well, I hope you feel just as inspired as I do. If you have any life regrets I'd like to live vicariously through you. I'd like to start a blog so you can follow along with me. Maybe I can even send you a postcard. I don't want to live with regrets and feeling like I could have done more - "more work" isn't it - I'm missing out on the important things in life. I can only imagine what 4-6 months abroad can teach me.

Thank you for your support!

    Let's Make This Fun!
(For the record I am terrified of heights and small spaces, but if we're going out of our comfort zone we might as well)

If my donations get to $1,000 I will: Zipline the jungle in Belize and video it (height + speed)

If my donations get to $5,000 I will: Explore the underground catacombs in Paris and video it (as allowed) (eerie, dark and tightly cramped)

If my donations get to $10,000 I will: Walk the Tower Bridge glass walkway in London and video it (major height)

GOAL: ??? - Collective donors choice
