My Travel Story

On the 11th of February 2019, I will be embarking on a 8 week volunteer placement in Sri Lanka, where I will spend my time promoting positive mental health through a number of group projects. I will be working in different environments, including psychiatric facilities and schools, dedicated to working with individuals with specific needs. I will also help teach English to people in the local community, providing them with better career prospects and increased confidence. This placement will enable me to gain relevant and crucial experience in the mental health field and will allow me to work with some of the best mental health professionals in the country. Personally, I have witnessed individuals close to me struggle with mental health issues, so this opportunity will allow me to develop my skills and my ability to help family and friends who are also struggling with issues.
