My Travel Story

by: Soh-Yoke Bravo and Daniel Cruz Start Date: Jun 7, 2016 - End Date: Apr 12, 2017
As World's Ahead FIU students, we go beyond what is expected. We take the opportunities we are given and do something great with it.

As active citizens who attended and are attending Florida International University (FIU), as members of our community, we are focused on creating active citizens through diversity, education, and leadership training to immerse them in diverse cultures and environments around the world to engage in service-oriented learning.

My group will be working with At Risk Youth in the beautiful country of Nicaragua in the Summer of 2017. With the help of our Community Partner, Panorama Expedition, we will be working with children at an orphanage to make an impact in their lives from building them closets and beds to repairing their playground to be a safer play area. We seek to improve communities with little access to develop comfortably in a safe environment. From our previous travel, we witnessed the children's school roof falling into their closet and dressing room and gaping holes in their ceiling where bugs and other creatures can enter causing harm. We hope to repair such living conditions and improve their lives.

We hope to reach our goal and once again enjoy this enriching experience by helping the youth communities of Nicaragua!

In order to make this happen, we are asking for a monetary donation to help us reach our goal of $8,000.

We cannot wait to make a difference for these children and with your help we can do so. No donation is too small. Thank you in advance and we really appreciate it!
