My Travel Story

by: Kayla Carson Start Date: Oct 28, 2016 - End Date: Dec 1, 2016
The study abroad program I chose is a semester long program in Heredia, Costa Rica through USAC. I chose this program for many reasons, however the ones I am most excited about are the location of the program, its duration, and its affordability. The idea of studying abroad was something I never thought would be possible, especially because I’ve only had a passport for about a month now, however it’s becoming a very real part of my future. I am so excited to challenge my Spanish Language skills, live with a host family, and put my cultural adaptability to the test. Costa Rica couldn't have been a better place to choose because it is conventiently in the same timezone as my hometown (Dayton, Ohio) which will make keeping in touch with my family very easy. This program is so important to me because Spanish is something I am very passionate about, as well as building relationships and learning about others. I will have the opportunity to do all of that while I travel to Costa Rica and Cuba. Every contribution made to this campaign will go directly to my study abroad expenses.

  • Scholarships, Scholarships, Scholarships!

These past few weeks have been quite the whirlwind, between my normal course load, RA responsibilities, and also the thrill of applying for scholarships left and right! More contributions are going to be needed for this opportunity to be as little of a financial burden as possible, but I am working hard to make sure they come from somewhere! It's hard to believe that November just started and that in January I'll be in another country!
