My Travel Story

Hello, I am a third year medical student who studies in Italy. I am trying to raise money in order to travel to Cordoba, Argentina, to take part in a social medicine program that will involve assiting doctors with patient care (specficially, in pediatrics and infectious diseases) and also interning with the minister of health offices to learn about the organizational side of public health.

I have made it my life goal to pursue a career in global public health as I am fascinated by how health care professionals in this field can make an impact on people's quality of life no matter what their socio-economic background is. In Madgascar, Ghana and Thailand, I was able to to experience first hand how health care officials can drastically reduce infectious disease incidence solely by proving information to impoverished communities. I was delighted to find that my taking part in publich health projects such as these, has helped make an impact (even if very small), on the health and so on the opportuinities in life of rural communities.

Being still a student, I realize I still have so much to learn before I am able to contribute ideas and work effort on a larger scale. To this end, I hope you will help fund this trip to Cordoba so that I can learn more about health organization. Obviously, whilst I am in Cordoba, I also hope to offer any assistance I can to the skilled healthcare professionals who work there.
