My Travel Story

I am a senior student at the University of Idaho studying Natural Resource Conservation with an emphasis in planning and management. I am looking to intern abroad this summer in Ecuador through the World Internships program to expand my education and learn more about the Ecuadorian culture, as well as the incredible wildlife in the Amazon Basin.
I will be interning for 6 weeks at the Yanacocha wildlife rescue center in Puyo, helping animals in need that have been injured or harmed from unethical practices and illegally trafficked through the pet trade. This will help advance my knowledge in wildlife conservation and management policy while also advancing my leadership and spanish speaking skills.
I chose Ecuador because it is one of the most incredible hot-spots for biodiversity around the world and is home to some of the most amazing flora and fauna. YanaCocha is located on the edge of the Amazon Basin and still only an hour from the City of Quito. This is a learning opportunity that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Though I am currently working part-time while also being a full-time student, I will not be able to save enough to pay for this program. Your donations will be much appreciated and will go a long way in helping me to help others while also developing my career and gaining the experience of a lifetime!

  • Program Update

    Hi all,

I have updated my information on the program and costs. I was originally going for 8 weeks and going to do two separate programs, but I have chosen to narrow my focus on just the YanaCocha Rescue Center and stay for 6 weeks to save on money.

I am so excited for this experience and can't believe that my spring semester is already halfway done, which means that summer is coming up soon! My campaign will be open for another 64 days, so if you are considering donating, you still have plenty of time.

Thanks again to those who have already donated and don't forget about the fun incentives that you will receive later!
  • Shout Out To Those Who Have Donated So Far!

I just wanted to share a thank you to the generous people who have donated to my campaign so far. Your support means a lot to me and I am so excited to go on this crazy adventure! Thank you for helping to make it possible for me!
