My Travel Story

Hi everyone! My name is Le Anne Costa and I am a sophomore at Arizona State University studying Business Sustainability and Global Leadership. I am doing a study abroad opportunity in San Jose, Costa Rica! I am one of 25 students who will be spending our spring breaks flying to sunny Costa Rica to study the business of coffee. We'll be attending guest lectures and conducting academic and company visits with Instituto Nacional Del Café, Café Britt, Starbucks and more! But it's not just work, we'll be participating in cooking classes, dance classes, and tours around the city, its historical museums, and shows at the local theatre. This trip is considered to be a GIE (Global-Intensive Experience) and all this is jam packed into one week. Crazy, right? This is extremely important to me because it will provide me the opportunity to interact with companies that deal in the business of coffee, while learning more about another culture. It will be hugely impactful on both my academic and my professional future. And, it deals in coffee. It doesn't get much better than that! I am currently working (in school) on a potential promotional campaign with UTZ and local coffee shops for marketing sustainable coffee; with this study abroad opportunity, I will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to personally meet and speak with the people who are in charge of making it all happen, especially on a global level. With this opportunity, I will be able to apply the knowledge I have accumulated throughout my education within a professional setting and gain real-world experience from it. Needless to say, I am extremely excited for this opportunity, and I cannot wait for it to come!
