Hello there! My name is Maike Stockfisch, I am 17 years old and I am from the Netherlands. First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page.

My goal is to participate in a 4-week-long pre-veterinary internship in Grahamstown, South Africa next Summer. Throughout this project I will get the opportunity to work and gain experience alongside qualified veterinarians, who work with rescued and wildlife animals.
I know it is a long way to go, but I hope with the help of this website and most of all your contribution I will be able to accomplish this goal by within 6 months. I will be going through the volunteer company Kaya Travel. The reason I choose for this particular project is because ever since I travelled to Africa several years ago, I have fallen in love with the continent as a whole. I told myself I would go back as soon as the opportunity opened up to me. Now I have the chance to combine my great passions, including my love for animals, the need to make a change and my appreciation for Africa.

Being able to take part of this wonderful experience means a huge deal to me, as I share a great love for animals. Therefore, I would love studying either veterinary medicine, zoology or ethology in the future. Participating in a volunteering project before going off to university will boost my personal understanding and involvement with wildlife animals and it will be a fantastic once-in-a-lifetime experience that I don't want to miss out on. Life is short and I want to make the most out of it.
