My Travel Story

by: Michael Brealey Start Date: Feb 19, 2018 - End Date: Jun 18, 2018
Hello Everyone,
My name is Michael and I am from Australia. Located in Brisbane where the sun shines almost every day, hot all year round except winter and home to many attractions. I am a current university student studying Education and Film. However at the end of the year and leading into 2019, I am wanting to travel on my first overseas trip. I am very excited about this aspect and hopefully it will come true. It has been a dream of mine from a young age to relive the culture and experience of being able to travel. I have travelled interstate in Australia but I have never been overseas, which I know there is so much I am missing out on. That's why I have made my decision to make my first overseas trip to Destination New Zealand because I am a photographer/filmmaker and want to take as many images as I can followed by design my very first book with inspirational quotes and photographic images of the beautifully designed landscapes, locations and things to see and do in New Zealand and then sell the book and give part proceeds to a chosen charity. I am still thinking about which charity to donate too. I currently donate to quite a few when I have the money, but want to donate to one that is worthwile and really needs the funds to help contribute in making a postive remarkable difference as I am that kind of person. Growing up in Redcliffe, Northside of Brisbane I was lucky growing up there, having clean water, clothes, food to eat and also being given a loving family, education and making friends. The downside was I was bullied, abused and sometimes even beaten by people at school, this was a horrible experience however I have learn't to overcome all of this through my interests in writing and expressing myself in unique ways through the performing arts. I am passionate about enriching and supporting the needs of people less fortunte then me and that is why for my project I am wanting to go on a trip to Asia and partcipate in a voluntary/internship in Cambodia and Thailand to teach English and help out with humantarian communties. I would love to be able to share my experiences, fufill their goals and accomplishments in working towards to acheiving the best possible outcomes for these people. I am a Education student studying Primary and Secondary Education, I chose to study this course because I like teaching, am passionate about learning and fostering my students development and helping them acheive the best possible outcomes for life. Letting them know that their is always someone there to listen, guide and inspire them every step of the way. I am wanting to be that person to make a difference and help these people as much as I can. I have partcipated in fundraising and events before for a number of organisations including the Australian Red Cross, The Smith Family, Fred Hollows Foundation and Many More. And love supporting these sorts of charities to help make a difference especially in someones life. Whether it is fundraising, on the phones, face to face, door knocking, performing at a live event or partcipating in a volunteer program like what I wish to do would be a amazing experience. I will make a huge difference in this people's lives, providing the courage, support and deterimination to become better humantarin workers. I chose this destination because I am wanting to help communties who are less fortunate as well as experience a new language, culture, cuisine, landscape and meet new people less fortunate than me. This project means a lot to me, and a lot to my friends and family who wish to support it. Coming from a person who lives with a disability, I know how it feels to not receive the help or be ignored, I want to help to the best of my ability and not be the person who walks away or ignores these people in need, especially the children who need a education, need water and food to survive, need a comforter at night when their parents or loved ones have passed away and are forced to live on their own and defend for themselves, it's a horrible experience to endure and I am ready 100% to help these people.

I am asking from the bottom of my heart to dig deep down inside of you, and help me make a difference, help support my trip to Cambodia and Thailand as a volunteer team leader enriching these people, allowing for me to attend training and a 8 week boot camp for me to learn the skills to allow for me to become a charity minded person, partcipating in projects such as teaching english, building animal enclosues and habitats, teaching children art and providing health services to communties that need it, resourcing for food and water and providing clothing.

I am travelling with a group of people who partcipate in this program, as I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it on my own. I need your support. Please Please Please, donate a small amount or big amount of money to help fund my trip to pay for my flights and accommodation. Eveything else is included. I am needing at least enough to cover the flights as a student I am finding it difficult to live on a pension and also being a student to survive. But it's not about me, it's about them. Help make a difference and grow with hope to be a better inspiring person, just like I wish to be. Help make that difference in rising up, standing up for your own rights, being a stronger person in yourself, saying no and fight bullying just like what I wish to do. Cause Together we can be stronger forever. Thank You.
