I chose this volunteer trip provided by goeco.org, because not only would I get the privledge of working and teaching the children of Thailand, I would also be able to help rebuild the orphanage and help with up keep. Thailand is under consist attack by terrible tsunamis, more than 1,200 children have lost their parents due to the tsunamis. On December 26, a tsunami hit Phuket, Pee Pee and neighboring Islands leaving 300 children orphans from that Tsunami alone. With this volunteer trip I would be working with children/ adults ages 4-21 years old, arranging workshops for cultural exchange, enviornmental awareness, and other important issues. I would also be able to work on the orphanges doing construction jobs such as maintaining the orphanages buildings and grounds and renovating.
