My Travel Story

This February I will be volunteering in Sri Lanka on a graduate mental health placement! Sri Lanka has extremely limited resources for mental health interventions, with medication the first (and often only!) treatment option. Anyone that has experienced issues with mental health will recognise that a combined approach is the best approach. That is why SLV Global sends volunteers to run fun and therapeutic interventions in Sri Lanka, that are otherwise hard to find!

Mental health is incredibly important to me as many of you know, so I will be heading out for 3 months to work with individuals in psychiatric facilities and community outreach programmes, as well as teaching and supporting young people with learning difficulties.

With one month to go I’m scraping together the last few pennies to help with my last vaccinations and creative supplies to use in the workshops we will be running over there! Anything and everything donated will be a massive help! So if you have anything to spare, I will be so so grateful.
