My Travel Story

by: Allison Aguilar Start Date: Nov 1, 2016 - End Date: Mar 30, 2017
Howdy, my name is Allison Aguilar and I am an International Studies/Russian double major at Texas A&M University, class of 2018 and a member of the Corps of Cadets. As a part of my degree I am required to spend at least 8 weeks studying in Russia. The program I have chosen is 10 weeks long, and I have decided to apply for an NGO internship at the same time as I am studying in St. Petersburg. The cost of the program is about $7,295 which EXCLUDES meals, airfare, books, and other personal expenses; a lot cheaper than many other programs. From attempting to pay for my junior year of college and senior boots, I don’t have much money left to help alleviate all the expenses studying abroad represents, and it’s because of this that I ask for your help.  I am currently a student worker, and plan on taking on other jobs next semester, as well as to apply for as many scholarships as possible, but considering the time I have left I will not be able to cover the full price on my own, and I would not want to lose the opportunity as I only have a few semesters left here in College Station in which I will be able to study abroad. Since, I am considering potentially doing a 3+2-year program in which I would be required to take graduate classes my senior year and 5th year to earn a Masters by 2019. I would also like to use my time in Russia to learn more about the culture and submerge myself more in the language in hopes to be able to become a Teacher Assistant for a Russian Professor my senior year.

I want to thank you in advanced for your help and consideration. Shall you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
