My Travel Story

by: Lydia Dibben Start Date: Oct 4, 2016 - End Date: Mar 30, 2017
I am lucky enough to have a place on GVI's African marine and terrestrial conservation project starting in April 2017. I will spend a month in the Seychelles, assisting the Seychelles National Parks Authority with crucial wildlife and island conservation projects while working with a variety of their native species. Followed by a month in South Africa, volunteering with an international team in order to collect vital behavioural data on reintroduced predators and large herbivores on a private game reserve. This project is a perfect start to a career in zoology, which I begin studying at the University of Leeds in September 2017. I will receive invaluable training in large animal identification, tracking and behavioural study skills, learning to use specialist equipment and working in two mind blowing locations with a team of like minded staff and volunteers. Most of the money to fund this trip is coming from my 3 part time jobs, but any donations to help me realise this dream would be gratefully recieved.
