My Travel Story

My name is Mikayla and I am a student pursuing a degree in Biology. I am on a secondary education track and I hope to become a biology and environmental science teacher at the middle school level. I begged and convinced my mom that study abroad is an amazing experience for career and personal development and I would love to do it. She agreed under one circumstance, I have to pay for it. I picked this program because Costa Rica is rich in biodiversity and it's a great way to learn about my global environment. I will be earning three credits for a biology class. This class is Environmental Science and Service learning so, not only will I be learning I will be serving my community as well! This extra level of knowledge and experience will be used to help my students grasp the true ideas of environmental science. I will make a difference in my community by educating younger generations on the importance of the environment, biodiversity, and service learning. For this project, I am pattionate about the amount of learning I will be doing. I am also passionate about meeting new people and places and strengthing my skills in spanish as well! This experience is meaningful to me because its a way to show other people how awesome study abroad can be and how much it can contribute to professional and career development. I am truly honored I get to have this experience!
