My Travel Story
Yes you, and no I'm not just trying to butter you up for my boring "Cut me a check" spiel... I sincerely mean it :-), and I want to thank you ahead of time for even giving me your time of day.
So with the use of common sense, you have already gathered that I am fundraising for a cause... A very good cause in my books. A cause of putting a dent into the need of society. To help the helpless and take a step into the unknown just for a slight chance that I might make someone smile.
I believe when you're born, you're born with a passion.. A drive that is meant to be felt, shared, and experienced. In my case, it would be a natural born passion to help others unconditionally. So I look to you for your assistance in helping me plan my next endevor .. volunteering for a total of 6 months (give or take) in Madagascar, Africa to create community building blocks, learning facilities for the young, and repair homes for families unable to provide proper living situations for themselves... In Figi to simply engage the young minds of children with basic skills and interaction while their parents are building a stable life... In Bali, Indonesia to protect and promote longevity of sea life and maximize waste management on the coastline that is leading to unnecessary deaths... and to complete my experience .. Morocco, South Africa to empower women of all ages who have been left behind in a culture that doesn't provide them the equal opportunities they deserve.
So now that you know WHAT you could be supporting let me show you WHO you would be supporting..
I have as much life experience as someone my age could have, so I feel. I've experienced having one day and not having the next. Never did I let it determine where I'd end up tomorrow. I knew what I wanted, and I achieved it regardless of life curcumstances. I currently serve as a 911 dispatcher and have always had the unshakable travel bug. Combine the personalities of the two and I've found the perfect combination.. Emerging myself in an unknown culture, and lending a helping hand in effort to better a community. I've learned, when I've been in need, I've never doubted help will show. Well it's my time to return the favor and lend a helping hand.. A kind word.. Or even an exchange of a smile.
I am not asking for you to cut a check to a blind cause and for you to never see the end result or to leave you feeling empty handed. Before I head off I will create a blog documenting my travels and encounters to include you in my accomplishments and impacts made, because without you it would not be possible. I will also be holding a fundraiser or two depending on the need. Please stay tuned.
SIDE NOTES: If you would like to check out the program, simply Google IVHQ. My planned departure will be Janurary of 2017. The money donated will be towards program fees, housing paid to locals, materials and supervision by professionals to build projects, food for the entirety of the trip, flights, medical and travel insurance, language lessons, transportation, etc.
