Well I'm not entirely sure how this funding process works, but I thought it would definitely be worth giving it a shot. To start, my name is Brandon and I'm 27 years old. I spent 4 1/2 years as a Police Officer in North Carolina before moving to South Florida to start a new chapter of my life. After 2 years of spending almost all my time, and all my nights alone with my thoughts on the beach, I've realized that what I want to do with my life is to travel, and of course to help people as much as I can along the way. As of now, my plan is to move to Thailand and to teach english until I decide where/when the next step of my life is going to take me. I am currently in the process of selling every single thing I own and preparing to begin a new life on the other side of the world, all by myself. At first I was more so scared than anything, but now that things are progressing, slowly, I am becoming more and more excited as I am watching what was once just a dream become a full blown reality. I have never left the country before, so not only am I leaving the country for my first time, but I am moving to the other side of the world to help teach english, to children and young adults, and I couldn't be more excited about it. I have spent the last couple years of my life searching for happiness and I have finally found it, on the other side of the world. Since I have never left the country I have never really needed a passport, so obtaining that is what I am currently in the process of doing. I never knew that funding sites like this existed, but I can definitely see how they can be of help to someone, especially someone like me. Any money that I am able to raise for this trip will be money that is absolutely put to good use, especially since there is a lot of financial obligations that are required when it comes to just up and moving to the other side of the world. I'm not sure exactly how much money I need in order to begin my travels but I know its a pretty penny. Some of my expenses include: Passport ($180), Visa ($?), Certification to teach English as a Foreign Language ($150), Plane Ticket (roughly $800), Hotel until I find an apartment to rent($20 per night), Apartment ($300/month), Electricity/Internet for schoolwork and lessonplans ($60/month), at least 3 months worth of food money set aside ($300), transportation arrangments until I am able to rent a monthly motorbike (about $100/month), Reliable Laptop for travel/schoolwork ($500), and thats all of my main expenses that I can think of right now. I'm sure as time progresses I will be able to narrow down my expenses to an exact dollar amount. Every bit of money that I am able to raise will go towards everything that is necessary in order for me to being this new and exciting chapter of my life...and in all reality, this is more that just a new chapter of my life. This is basically like beginning a new book, and I'm more excited about this than I have ever been about anything in my entire life. I cant even begin to explain how much the donations, of any amount, will mean to me, but whoever you are, just know that I am eternally grateful for your generosity, and its not only me that you're helping...you're helping an entire generation of people who want nothing more than to further educate and better their lives, so they can build a happy life and hopefully one day spread their happiness to others like I am hoping to do as well. Thailand is called the "Land of Smiles" for a reason, and I cant wait to be a part of it.
