My Travel Story

by: Hamza El Khomri Start Date: Jul 2, 2017 - End Date: Oct 29, 2017
Hello everyone! My name is Hamza El Khomri, I am a Morccan student, and I am planning to volunteer in Lebanon next January through an organization called Salam LADC (Lebanese Association for Development & Communication).

Salam LADC is a non-profit and apolitical association launched right after the 2006 Israeli war in Lebanon, that  is working in camps in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, distributing aid, medical care, and working on youth development projects. Salam aims also at strengthening inter-community dialogue in villages and assisting the most vulnerable persons, and it has a big focus on building bridges between the Lebanese and Syrian communities.

While I'll be volunteering my time and services with them, I'd also like to be able to make a financial contribution to Salam LADC in order to bring more aid to the camps. Your donations will go directly to Salam LADC for purchasing aid (funds withdrawn will be transferred directly to Salam LADC for the primary purpose of purchasing aid for distribution). Salam's current projects include: weekly aid distribution in refugee camps (food, winterization supplies, firewood, clothing), coordinating medical care for vulnerable populations, and will help to fund my trip. My mission is to raise enough money to purchase a month's supply of food, water, and basic necessities for the people living there.

It has always been a dream of mine to volunteer in the Middle East and to give back while experiencing the uniqueness of different cultures. That’s why I want to thank you for supporting me and the refugees in Lebanon. Your support will make a difference to us!

As you know, the world is in a situation of political tumult and many are looking for a way to make a positive difference in the face of xenophobia, racism, and income inequality. I'm aware that this time of year can be a financial strain and that there are many opportunities to give, but I hope that you'll consider making a donation of any size in order to benefit the work of an organization that is working at the center of the Syrian refugee crisis. I'll be updating during my month in Lebanon and posting photos and news of what the funds are being used to purchase. Thanks in advance for any amount! -Hamza

PS: I will provide you with photos during my trip!
PS 2: Please if you can't help with donations, just share my compaign on social media. I will be so greatful!
