My Travel Story

by: Taylor Parliament Start Date: May 26, 2017 - End Date: Sep 25, 2017

Going to the University of Sheffield is extremely beneficial for my future as not only is the program, MSc Human Osteology and Funerary Studies, but also the school itself are one of the highest prestige! Archaeology has always been a huge interest throughout my life, and as soon as I heard about a second year course, called An Introduction to Human Osteology, I knew that this was the specialization I wanted to continue in. I am hoping that I can combine my two loves, human osteology and mathematics. Some academic studies have used mathematics to gain insight into the past, however, it is not currently utilized as much as it can be, and I would like to use it to learn new things about past human lives.
Going to the UK specifically will be beneficial for my future for many reasons! 1) I will gain an understanding of the cultures in Europe as I will be living there for approximately 12 months. 2) By taking the courses offered, I will begin to grow my network which is very important in the field of Archaeology as people often hire people that they know. 3) I love adventure and will have an overall excitment about school that would not be attainable if I stayed close to home.
