I wish to obtain a small fund for my trip to U.K. to further my self-funded PhD study in University of Manchester.

During my Master's Degree, I have identified a few plant derived drugs that have the potential to cure neurodegenerative diseases, however, getting those drugs to penetrate the brain and deliver their therapeutic efficacy remained extremely challenging due to the presence of blood-brain barrier (BBB).

My PhD goal is to allow more potential drugs to cross the BBB in order to treat various brain disorders, e.g. cancer, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and depression, which are more common among the elderly. My ultimate dream is to provide low cost and non-surgical treatment that are able to permanently reverse the brain degenerative mechanisms. This is crucial to prevent progressive deteriorating of life quality among the increasingly affected aged population.

I believe every senior citizens deserve to stay active and remain mentally healthy throughout their ages. I hereby express my sincere gratitude for those who are able to support this project.
