My Travel Story

This summer is going to be crazy!
Not only do I have the chance to participate in the Classical Singer Competition finals in Boston, but I was invited to Duino, Italy to be a part of the International Music Festival of the Adriatic, a festival where students and faculty from institutions around the world come to make music together and study under some of the professionals in the music industry.
In Boston (May 24th-27th), I will have access to a convention that hosts classes, presentations, lectures, and graduate college recruitment throughout the course of the weekend, on top of competing to win scholarships and prizes in the Intermediate College division (18-21) through the Classical Singer magazine.
In Italy, I will be spending 4 weeks (June 10th-July 7th) in the Northeastern coastal town of Italy studying under some of the most reputable teachers and respected professionals in master classes and private coachings, as well as performing in various venues across Italy and other parts of Europe nearby. I even get to study Italian! But my favorite part of this is that I will get to collaborate with student composers and pianists on projects throughout the festival, helping pianists with art song collaborations and helping composers get their new works performed and into the limelight.
I am so incredibly excited for both of these opportunities. Receiving them as a sophomore undergraduate is so overwhelmingly gratifying, but they are not without expense. And, being a sophomore undergrad, it is difficult for me to afford both. I dearly wish to utilize these opportunities to further my skills and become a well-rounded and educated musician, and also take the chance to learn Italian in its birthplace--and perform opera so near to its birthplace as well. I love to sing, and both the competition and the festival will help me reach my goals and live out the passion for music God has given me.
Should you choose to donate, I want you to know that your contribution will go towards flight and accomodations for Boston, as well as flight and tuition for the IMFA. I want to thank you in advance for supporting me in reaching for the dreams I have as an aspiring opera singer.

  • Great News!!

Hey everyone! I want to thank those who donated since I last sent out an update--thank you so much to the Swindler's and the Vander Maten's for supporting me.
But I also have great news!
As of today, I have booked my flight and hotel to Boston, as well as my flight to Italy!! I am so beyond excited that both of these dreams are becoming a reality. The only thing left is the remainder of the tuition for the IMFA (International Music Festival of the Adriatic), so if you want to help out and haven't gotten the chance, there's still a bit left I need help with.
Again, thanks to everyone who has supported me. It means so much to myself and everyone involved.
    Lots of love!
    Emily
