I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Massachusetts. I am a mother of two beautiful girls and a military spouse of an active duty Navy member, with a passion for animals. My dream is to ultimately be a vet, and I have begun taking steps toward that goal. It is hard though, because we are stationed overseas so education opportunities are limited for the next few years. I am the president of a local non- profit animal rescue organization called the Sigonella Animal Welfare Society. We work with stray cats and dogs here in Sicily to rehabilitate and re-home them at no cost to the adopters. Elephants are my absolute favorite animal. I think they are the most beautiful creatures on this earth and there aren’t many of them left. Going to Africa to work with elephants is one of my life- long dreams. I have looked into it several times in my life time but have never had the monetary means to pursue it. I feel now is a perfect time to pursue this dream, as I am very close to Africa already here in Sicily. I will be working with orphaned and injured elephants and rhinos on this trip.
