At the end of this year I shall be embarking on an amazing and rewarding trip. I will be heading first to Peru, for four weeks, to volunteer alongside local staff and scientists. Volunteers are vital for the conservation efforts there, by assisting in the collecting of data to help preserve the magnificent Amazon Rainforest, as well as help the community with their sustainable community initiatives.
This is not only an amazing life experience for me, but also work experience. I am currently in my last year of studying a Bachelor of Science in Ecology, and will do this trip between finishing my degree, and beginning my Masters in Ecology.
Wildlife conservation is my dream job, that I am working very hard to be as knowledgable about as possible. However, learning in a classroom is very different to the real life, hands on experience that this trip will give me.
After the four weeks in Peru I will be spending two weeks in Belize. I will be volunteering in an incredible Wildlife Centre, home to orphaned or rehabilitating animals, such as jaguars, tapirs, howler monkeys, and many more. Not only are volunteers there helpful in caring for these animals, but more importantly by educating the community about the conservation of their precious local wildlife and habitat.
All costs paid to POD are for my accommodation and food during the trip, with any money leftover going 100% into the projects they support. I am only asking for a portion of the volunteer fee, as I will be studying part time to pay for the rest (or all of it) myself.
Thanks for your time :)
