Teaching English at Camp in China
This trip is unlike any other college summer trip. Instead of traveling with the purpose of touring a city (even though we will do a
bit of touring) we are traveling with the purpose of showing love to children while teaching them English.
In Jinhua, China, from June 26th – July 23rd, I will be teaching a class of children, in either kindergarten, elementary, or middle school at an English camp at Zhejiang Normal University. The class I will teach, for 90-minutes twice a day will have 25-30 students and 2 co-teachers.
My team will stay on-campus in dormitories, eat at local restaurants or in the cafeteria with the students, and spend time outside the classroom getting to know our students and Chinese co-teachers. The camp will be held at the University of ZHNU which is South of Shanghai.
We will fly into Shanghai, teach at the university for almost three weeks, take a bullet train to Beijing, tour Beijing, and then fly out of Beijing back to the US. I'm excited about the opportunity and experience that lies ahead.
As you can imagine, a trip like this requires financial support from a number of people. The money I need to raise does not include the US travel or any extra spending money, but it covers the cost of the airfare, visa, housing and food while in China.
Thank you in advance for a gift of any amount.
