My Travel Story

This July, I am going to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic for three weeks through CIEE. CIEE is the Council on International Educational Exchange and is a non-profit organization that sends students all over the world for language studies, global discovery, semesters abroad, or leadership trips, which is what I’m doing. I will helping at-risk children advance their teamwork skills, art skills, teaching swimming and working in the classroom with them to help them understand English. I will be placed with a host family to live with to immerse myself in the culture even further. While I will be working during the day, but in the evenings I will be able to see musical performances, explore the city, design murals for the school, go to Los Haitises National Park and more. I will also receive all of my community service hours for school that I need to graduate next year. I am trying to fundraise money for the cost of tuition and airfare to and from Santo Domingo.
