Hello Everyone! My name is Ashley and I would love to travel to Barcelona for an internship. I am a current undergraduate student looking to continue my journey above and beyond the average student. I am a professional writing major with a minor in Spanish. I am part Spanish, but it seems like the culture within my family is slowly fading away. The only time I hear it when my grandparents are speaking. My siblings do not speak it, my parents do not wish to speak it, so I have to seek out the language on my own. I think having Spanish as a second language can do wonders for anyone in the workplace, which is why I'm doing my best to recover what my family has brought over from the island of Puetro Rico. I want to work with a Spanish newspaper or magazine company in Barcelona so that I can take my degree to the next level. I am a writer seeking experience and knowledge far beyond what most students do. Most students do not branch out when it comes to internships, and I don't want that to be me. I love studying different cultures. I have been working at a Japanese restaurant for the last five years, learning many things about the Japanese and Korean culture. I have many friends from other countries. For example, I have friends from Vietnam, South Africa, London, and so much more. Hearing what they bring to America is inspirational, and if they can find the means to come and study in the United States, then I can travel outside of the states as well. Going to Spain for an internship would not only bring a whole new set of skills in writing and communication, but also, it will bring hope to other students in similar situations. I want people to feel like they can accomplish anything, and that money does not have to stand in the way.
