Helloo everyone! I am a Psychology student in my final year of study at Canterbury Christ Church University and was recently accepted to partake in a mental health placement in Bali next summer with SLV. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to help build on my experiences in this field of work and increase my understanding of global mental health.

I will be working 40- hour weeks during my time in Bali, working with children with specific needs and elderly residents. I will be teaching English within the community and facilitating therapeutic activity sessions at one of Indonesia's only psychiatric facilities. All the sessions aim to promote good mental health as much as possible by improving the patient's life skills and boosting their confidence and self-esteem.

Mental health disorders such as depression and schizophrenia have been a big part of my family life for many years now and triggered my desire to help people in similar situations in whichever way I can. Transferring my skills to work in another culture will be challenging but in terms of benefitting the people of Bali, the outcomes aim to be lifechanging. The string of earthquakes and tsunamis that have recently affected Indonesia, including the island of Bali, mean this country needs as much help as possible right now. A downfall in mental health is most certainly a consequence of the recent events and emphasizes just how important this experience will be for the Bali community.

This trip is voluntary and so everyone on my team is asked to fund our own travel expenses and the placement fee of £1400. If you support what I am doing and would like to help in any way, all I ask is for a small donation to help towards the costs or to share my campaign with your friends and family. In the past I have participated in a number of runs for mental health charities, and will aim to do more throughout this campaign. As well as this I will contirbute more creative and fun ways to help raise the money. If you just want to know more about the work I will be doing feel free to message me or more information can be found on the SLV global website. Thank you for your time and I will keep you posted on any events :)
