My Travel Story

Hi! I am Chef Aldric Tan from Singapore. Food is more than life to me. It is a symbolism of how the world’s bold and beautiful cultures have been intertwined in one giant pot. Or wok. My second heartfelt passion is in volunteerism. My time spent as a teacher in a Cambodian orphanage has humbled me and I have thus made it my solemn vow to give back to communities since then.

GeekyGlutton was created to not only present fusion cuisine to hearts and homes of developing countries like Vietnam and India but to also donate part of my earnings to halfway-houses and orphanages in both countries. With plans to extend this cause to other parts of the world, this startup aims to marry the healthy goodness of home-cooking and the art of story-telling - a narrative cornucopia of beauty, adventure and wit  (sometimes the weird ‘n wacky) will be served alongside my dishes.

The culinary extraordinaire Julia Child once quipped “Drama is very important in life: You have to come on with a bang. You never want to go out with a whimper. Everything can have drama if it's done right. Even a pancake.”

In this sincere plea, I truly appreciate any amount of funding, mostly used towards the transporting of food, specific kitchen equipment and travelling costs. With your kind donations, I will translate some of that “drama” and compassion in my dishes towards the people whom I cook for and hope to carve a new spirit of culinary philanthropy amongst developing communities around the world.
