Hi there! My name is Katie, I am 20 years old and I am currently studying to be a Veterinary Technician in the United States. I have a six month old German Shepherd puppy named Bellatrix. I love all animals even reptiles even if they sometimes creep me out. I spend my free-time performing in musicals at local performance theaters. My entire life I have always loved elephants both Asian and African. I am partial to Asian elephants I must say. I am looking to do abroad volunteer work because I am looking to do work toward something bigger than me. As one person I can only do so much to make an impact. By working with a company that knows the communities I will have a more successful chance at my volunteer work. African Impact is an amazing company focused on so many projects in Africa. They offer wildlife conservation, marine conservation, teaching, medical attention, building/development, and so much more. They are the largest company in Africa working on all sorts of projects. They have animal focus projects and ecosystem protection.

Here is a little breakdown of what I am going to be doing for this project. Basically this project allows me to work One-On-One with Lion Cubs teaching them how to hunt and to get acclimated with being on their own in the African brush. I will participate in "Lion Walks" in the mornings to the brush and research on the pride. Around lunch our group might head off to nearby Chamabondo School to begin the day’s conservation education classes – sometimes there are up to 60 kids in a class. Or we will be cleaning or feeding the cubs, or driving into the National Park to conduct a game census. We will do another "Lion Walk" in the afternoon and head back to the cabins. In the afternoons we can work with elephants or the 30 horses kept on the land. We get opportunities to go to schools and teach the children or rehabilitate rescued wildlife. My goal is to be heading out on this trip around November of 2016 BUT I need to make sure I can make it there financially.
