Hello, family, friends, strangers, anyone finding themselves to read this post! My name is Roshan Kumar Stagger, I am 18 years old and I am currently a Freshman student at the University of Wyoming, Laramie. Like many of my other classmates, it is coming time for me to choose a college to study abroad to learn a different culture and experience as a part of my International Studies Degree. August 1st, commitment day, is just around the corner. However, unlike most other students, I am an international student from India studying on a visa at the United States. Let me give you a background on myself and why I have still yet to decide:

All throughout high school I have maintained a high GPA, ranging from 3.8 - 4.0 out of 4.0. The past 3 years. I jumped at every volunteer opportunity I was offered and joined every club that interested me. I even started a Travel Club at the University of Wyoming to help those students who always wanted to travel. I've also worked 3 part time jobs throughout the freshman year of school, always working at least 2 at a time. When it came time to apply to college I felt as though I would be all set to get in and go to any school, that is what everyone told me. I always worried about money but I was assured by many people to not give up on my dreams and with my grades & after financial aid, I would be fine. They were wrong about the financial part. I got accepted to all the schools I applied and I was so excited. I pictured myself at the school of my dreams studying International Studies as learning different cultures and understanding different perspectives has always been my goal. All this turned into reality once I received my Rocky Mountain Scholarship. I was fortunate enough to receive the most money possible in merit, about 5500 $ /per year. I received no additional financial aid. While I was extremely thankful and appreciative of the merit money awarded, at $5500+, all of my schools are unattainable. But My parents have had immense financial struggles and simply cannot come up with $20,000-$30,000 a year. I have no other adults in my life who are able to cosign and I was at a loss. But fortunately, my parents took the maximum loan to afford my tuition. And now since I have decided to study abroad at Phuket , Thailand for Spring 17, I don't have enough money to make my dreams true. But I don't want to give up my hopes and thus I am already working two jobs to save money.

I never gave hopes in my life. Thus, I am going to stay motivated and confident to help make my dream of learning Thai Culture by studying there for a semester. I have seen so many inspiring stories on FundmyTravel. So, this is one of the platforms, I am going to use to help live my dreams. Any small amount helps. As a Hindi Proverb says every drop helps the water-pot to get full.
Best,
Roshan
