My Travel Story

by: Reagan Oswald Start Date: Feb 7, 2018 - End Date: Jun 6, 2018
HI! Thanks for visiting my fund. I'm Reagan, a junior marketing major at the University of South Alabama & I'll be spending a month in London this July. You can find my full essay below. I'll be adding more details as I figure them out, but for now, I'm inviting you all to join my adventure by helping me get there & offering me any ideas on things to do in Europe, more ways to fundraise, and any other input you'd like to give!
Thanks in Advance :)

From the time I learned that studying abroad was an option for college students, I knew it was an experience I could not go without. I spent hours scrolling through program options, attending study abroad fairs, and browsing destinations on the internet. The countless options seemed to only grow my desire to see the whole world. Then, "London 2018" caught my eye and the details were perfect. By that point, Europe was at the top of my list because of the many travel opportunities near each other. With the program focused on International business, involving fellow South Alabama students, being one month long, and offering 6 credit hours, I knew it was the one for me.
This program is designed to teach every aspect of International Business, a topic that is very exciting to me. Not only will we learn in the classroom, but we will also be taught by guest lecturers and be taken to important business sites of the past and present around Europe. London is one of top business centers of the world and there aren't many better places for a marketing student to learn. Outside of the ways studying abroad will enhance my education and future career, I know the experience will leave other impacts as well. When traveling, I always learn something new about myself and find many new things to appreciate about the world and its different cultures, landscapes, histories, and even challenges. London will be my biggest adventure yet, and therefore the most eye-opening. I want to bring everything I learn home with me to get others excited about business and travel.
My preference towards a shorter program that I will earn credit from stems from my financial need. With living in an apartment that I pay my own bills for, it would not be realistic for me to leave for more than a month. While abroad, I will of course be out of work but continuing to pay multiple bills. The fact that tuition is included in the program fees played a role in deciding to attend this program because it will shorten my time in school and save money in the long run. I am hoping to take advantage of the vast amount of travel opportunities around Europe during my time there, but I fear that I will lack the funds. I am relying almost entirely on financial aid for this once-in-a-lifetime trip, so any donations I receive will not only relieve my debt and financial worry, but also enrich my studies and travels so greatly by allowing me to experience the program to its fullest extent.
