In September of this year I will be venturing to Bali for a four week Mental Health Placement with SLV Global. SLV is a voluntary organisation that started in 2010. SLV's main focus is on global mental health. Unfortunately, SLV recieves no funding from the UK government, and as such, relies on volunteers like myself to aid the success of their projects. My position is completely voluntary and I will recieve no payment for my contribution.

There is a profound lack of understanding about mental health in Bali, as well as very few facilities where people can seek treatment, should they need it. For this reason, SLV's aim is to benefit communities in need of extra support within the mental health sector. At the same time, SLV provides skilled volunteers the chance to gain much-desired psychology work experience. An exemplar day on my placement will be working at a psychiatric facility for one half day a week and a rehabilitation centre for another half day, getting hands-on work experience with individuals suffering with mental health issues in Bali. I'll also work on other projects, such as English for development and children's development, which entails working with children from disadvantaged backgrounds to learn and socialise in creative environments.

Thank you in advance for any donations towards my fundraising for this incredible cause in Bali. Andie x
