As many of you know, I love to travel and more recently have been really inspired to do volunteer work overseas. I have recently been accepted to volunteer for a Youth Care and Community Development program in Santa Barbara de Samana in the Dominican Republic. 

I will be working with at Fundacion Aldeas de Paz  to do the following:

• Assist with teaching and tutoring in our Center with recreational, developmental and therapeutic activities for children and young adults with special needs 
• Organizing and leading intercultural events and regular meetings for locals and volunteers with cross-cultural activities fostering exchange and integration
• Helping with special events like fundraising parties, cooperating with other organizations and supporting community activities when help is needed.
• Assisting teaching English as well as computer literacy and/or first aid classes to local youth and adults to prepare them for jobs in the tourist industry
• Assisting with maintenance and restoration of our Attention Center building
• Assist staff with youth, family and community development activities and and engaging support of parents & caregivers

I have always wanted to do something like this and now have finally applied and have been accepted to work with a foundation that I hold dear to my heart.

I am asking for donations as the cost for this program is $1500 and the flight ranges between $550-$650. I also plan to bring some high demand supplies for the students and the school.
