Hello. My name is Haley and I'm 14 years old. I've been interested in studying abroad, more specifically Japan, and immersing myself into Japanese culture  and language. What really got me intrigued with Japanese culture was anime and manga. A few years ago, I check out the Death Note anime because of its rave reviews, and I found myself liking the animation. As I continuously kept watching anime and eventually started reading manga, I became more and more interested in the culture and language

I am very passionate about this goal, although my mother isn't so keen on the idea. I've talked to her about it once or twice, and all she said is that we don't have the money (we are a lower status income family). I looked into scholarships which I will definitely be applying for, but reading over what the scholarships would cover (depending on what percentage of the scholarship I'd get), the fees of airfare, food, side shopping, and SMS fees amounts to a lot of things I can't afford. So I discovered this program through a friend and giving it a go...

Currently, my goal is 7,000 dollars for the summer study abroad to improve my Japanese, then to study abroad for a whole academic year my sophomore year.

This is a very near and dear dream of mine I've held onto for a few years. I've put in hours upon hours of research into studying abroad in Japan, the requirements, and all the costs of doing this. I'm asking family for jobs so I can earn money on the side, considering ANYTHING helps. If anyone donates any amount, just know I'm truly thankful, and if I'm able to meet my goal and go my sophomore year, I'll be so thankful to you for making it possible.
