"Be the change you want to see in the world" - Gandhi
Growing up with 3 elder siblings – now in their forties, is one of the biggest reasons I have always needed to travel, they’re stories boasted my interest of travelling, working and volunteering, and not just for a few weeks or months but to live as a local in each destination I am placed for at least a total of a year.
This July, I had already spent a week on a mental health placement in Bangalore, India, with SLV.GLOBAL, where I was engaging in intense lecture schedules and shadowing, it was an experience that has furthered my interest in volunteering more next year -once finished with my last year of university!
As volunteering with education aspects can be quite pricey, my initial starting point would be to work for 6 months in Australia to further some financing for later travels, I would then move onto South East Asia where I will teach English with a TEFL course I would have completed prior to my departure. After 3 months of teaching English I will travel solo around Asia and Africa before departing for another few months travelling and volunteering in South America and Africa.
My main focus is on education programs in the mental health industry, as after my travels I am taking my masters in Psychotherapy, however, I will be disappointed to neglect my passion on helping animals and so I will volunteer in sanctuary’s around Asia and Africa.
