My name is Keri Daniels, and I am a 12-year-old 6th grader at Woodland Middle School. I am writing to you about an extremely special opportunity. I have been selected to become a People to People International Student Traveler to Costa Rico. This summer, I will travel with a group of students my age on an 8-day educational program that will take us through San Jose, Arenal Volcano / La Fortuna area, Sarapiqui, Atenas (homestay). A People to People International Student program is not tourism. It brings students like me closer to Discover Costa Rico, I will have the opportunity to be immerse in Spain's culture and heritage. After all, there is no better way to learn about culture than to experience it firsthand. We will be led by experienced teachers and engage in a wide variety of cultural encounters and adventures. We will get to interact with a local at the Santa Ana orphanage, discover an area rich in bio-diversity and attempt to understand the scientific reasons that lead to certain species thriving over others, swing among the canopies around the magnificent Arenal Volcano on an adrenalin fueled adventure through the forest, living the life as a Costa Rican with a host family where I can get everyday cultural practices that exceed outside of the classroom and finally soak up the sun at the beach and get back to nature in style. Needless to say, I am incredibly excited.
This program is different from any other summer program I have previously participated. People to People requires their young travelers to become stakeholders in their upcoming traveling experiences. Along with my parents I am required to review my budget, fundraising, seek sponsorships as part of People to People's mission. I must invest in me first. My mom has been a great asset to my future and believes that I can become the General Surgeon that a dream to be.

I am raising money to help pay for my trip. I’ve begun chores at home, gathering items for a future yard sale, and reaching out to friends, family, and local businesses. Would you be willing to help sponsor my trip? I would be enormously grateful for your support. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for supporting me in my goal to explore and understand another culture.

Sincerely,
Keri Daniels, PTPI Student Traveler
