Upon a recent trip to South Africa, I was in awe of the country and the people I encountered. Coming up to the end of my degree, I figure there is no better way to decide what I want to do as my career than by returning to Africa and spending time interning, volunteering, and hopefully making a positive impact on the lives of others. Health care has always been something that I have been passionate about, and with my hundreds of hours of volunteering in health care in Victoria, I figure I might as well swtich up the scenery and learn how another country implements its health care system. My goal is to find a job that I am passionate about, but also to help others while doing so. While not interning, I plan to return to a preschool in rural South Africa that my family and I have fundraised for in the past several years. My previous trip to visit these children left my heart full and a huge desire to make a quick return. When I visited some of the townships on the outskirts of Cape Town, I was shocked at how positive and resourceful these people were, having so little to work with. I am hoping of finding a way to make an impact in these communities in any way possible when I return to these townships, and more specifically in the field of health care. I cannot wait for this next chapter of my life to begin, but until then, I need to find the funds to cover travel expenses, internship costs, and accomadation/transport fees while volunteering. I am currently not working as I am enrolled in seven summer school courses and will be fully immersed in school again in the fall as I finish up my degree in Neurobiology. Please help this dream become a reality! I want to make a difference in other people's lives, but I can't do it alone.
