Family Reunion in the Philippines
This past year my Lola(grandmother) turned 82 years old. I have not seen her since I was 8 years old, I am now 33 years old. I was born in America meanwhile all of my family on my mother's side live in Iloilo, Philippines. I have not seen my Aunts, Uncles, or cousins since I was a child. My cousins now have children of their own as do I.
I am extremely grateful for social media as well as video calling because I can keep in contact easier and more frequently. When I was younger, my cousins and I would write letters to each other for updates which took which seemed liked forever to receive.
My husband and I have been saving up to go visit them but I ended up having an emergency c-section October 2015. My son was born with a hemangioma which caused him to be hospitalized for a week to have various test done. Now that he is on medication and things are progressing we are ready to move forward with the hopes of traveling to the Philippines.
We were hoping to visit my family around the holidays. We would have a place to stay and transportation while we are there however the costs of plane tickets are very pricey! Travel time is about 26 hours.
I would love for my now 21 month old son to see some of his family. I would love to physically hug my family and meet my cousin's children. Every little bit helps and we are very thankful!
