Make My "One Day" A Reality... Help Me Meet My Parents
Ever since I was a child, I knew I was adopted.I knew that my story was different than majority of children that I attended school with. That my story would make a profound difference and would one day need to be heard.
The two individuals who sacrficed everything and put there entire world on hold to adopt three of us are now who I call my parents. They arrived in Romania to adopted a little girl, only to find out she was unable to come back with them. So they got on a bus and travelled 18 hours to Northern Romania to a village just outside of the province, Botosani and found my family.
Life took a turn when my adoptive mother got ill and at a young age of 41 had lost a short yet aggressive battle of cancer. I always had questions of who gave birth to me. Why did we get put up for adoption? Did we look like any of our siblings? Were our parents still alive? A child can only wonder. So I went on a search to find them.
18 months later, I found them.As a young girl, I would dream of the day that I would land in Romanian soil and run into the arms of my parents. Cry uncontrollably and just love these individuals the same way they loved me. Growing up, and educating myself on the conditions of the later 80’s and early 90’s where the dictator there country treated children so poorly that it was almost a blessing to be placed in such a loving home in Canada where the opportunities are endless.
My life here in Canada has been a constant uphill battle full of road blocks and obstacles, full of hiccups and hurdles. It was the deck of cards I was dealt though and one day, there will be a greater reason and purpose behind all the tragedy I had to endure after being adopted.
I decided that I need to take this trip.I need to meet these people who gave me life, who were gracious enough to give me a future they will never have, and meet my siblings. I decided when mapping out this trip, that I needed to give back somehow so I decided to pair up with a local orphanage with whom I will volunteering with for 3 weeks after my 2 week stay with my family. This orphanage is about 15 minutes outside of the village my biological family resides. The money I am seeking to raise is to help bring over clothing supplies, and school supplies to these child in the orphanage and help with my accommodations while I am working in the orphanage.
Please help me make my one day a reality!
