Help Teach English to Tibetan Refugees
My Travel Story
The Tibetan Buddhists and the Central Tibetan Agency remain in exile to this day.
. . .
For the longest time, I was lost. But after spending my summer at Kenyon College, I realized that the key to happiness, morality, and direction is empathy, encapsulated by the liberal pursuit of impartiality towards my own background, and equality for every citizen of the earth.
This is why I have chosen to leave school and travel to Dharamsala, India. This is why I will teach English in Buddhist monasteries for a period of eight weeks. This is why I plan to learn Tibetan and read the Pejas in their original tongues. This is why I elect to see all the world as my home, all the people as mirror representations of myself, and the tribulation of poverty and tyranny as my own to bear.
No one in this world is undeserving of democracy. We have a responsibility to the people of Tibet.
Only with the words with which I speak can I contribute to the cause of tens of thousands of Tibetans in exile from their homes. Only by making an exile of myself can I empathize with their cultural condition. Only by falling in love with the world, with Buddhism, with Kathmandu, will I grow into a state of everlasting joy.
. . .
Thank you so much for reading and getting to know me and the situation in Tibet and neighboring nations. Absolutely any contribution is greatly appreciated and will go directly towards airfare and living costs.
