My Travel Story

I am overjoyed and so grateful to have the opportunity and the available resources to volunteer with kids in Uganda. This trip is so meaningful to me because I'll be given the chance to experience a culture extremely different from my own, and, have the pleasure of making a positive impact on the lives of Ugandan children. I am choosing to work with kids because of their unfaltering curiosity for life and infectious positive energy. When in their presence, it is impossible to feel anything other then gratitude and love. I have noticed so many people in Canada, myself included, take advantage of everyday technologies and luxuries to the point the that we no longer have an appreciation for a simpler way of living. We are so distracted by our cell phones, apps, computers, and social media, that we lose touch of the importance of being around real people, doing real things. Our society romanticizes the idea of individualism and competition, instead of embracing the idea of unity and kindness. This is why I am choosing to leave my comfortable Canadian life for a simpler one. In the hope of gaining perspective of other cultures norms and values, as well as making some unforgettable memories!
