Dearest Friends and Global Community,

It's in a state of care that we made this campaign, to do something for our GoAbroad Philippines family and the surrounding community who are based in the Eastern Visayas of the Philippines. A "storm of the century" made landfall in this region and Super Typhoon Haiyan was reported with winds of 195 mph and gusts of 235 mph.

This page is listed as a volunteer trip with Volunteer for the Visayans. Volunteer For The Visayans works closely with Goabroad Philippines, and is assisting us with the use of their organisation name, so we can continue to support the local community collectively.

Funds collected will go to The GoAbroad Foundation, the charitable wing of GoAbroad.com. Here they can be used to support grassroots efforts affecting those in the local, Tacloban and Volunteer for the Visayans communities.
We appreciate your support in any form that you can contribute: Shares via email, Facebook, Google + and Twitter will all go a very long way. Even blog posts or short video postings to spread the word can make a huge difference.

For everyone who can donate 10.00$ or more, you will of course receive a personal thank you from the US GoAbroad staff, but we already have some creative ways to share our appreciation too.   • 12/6/2013 Resuming The Communications!

    Dear friends,

    Continued thanks are of course in order. Since our last update, the campaign has actually met the $10,000.00 goal that we set out to reach. It is not yet reflected on the site, as much of these funds were raised in offline donations over the Thanksgiving Holiday, though I will be getting those deposited and reflected soon! How greatful we are to have seen the generosity of others and a most adirable form of showing gratitude, with their donations to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda. 

    These holidays provide such a beautiful opportunity to recall the blessing that is our time and ability to be surrounded with the people we care for most in celebration. Let us remember to celebrate the lives of those lost  as well and continue care for our brothers and sisters across the globe, not only in Tacloban but around the world. This typhoon and the Filipino people have really taught us a lot about the value in remembering that we are all one.

    Thank you so much again and please stay tuned for the next update, we will have a new video and new information about the different ways you can continue to support this cause, including volunteer opportunities.

  • 11/19/2013 Press Release: GoAbroad Philippines Becomes Relief Centre

    Fort Collins, CO - 19 November 2013 -GoAbroad.com, in conjunction with the GoAbroad Foundation, is providing direct relief to Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) survivors in Tacloban City, the location of GoAbroad.com’s Asia headquarters.

    The GoAbroad.com offices in Tacloban have acted as a media, refugee center, and relief staging site since the storm. Tech rooms have been turned into dormitories, editorial rooms into food banks, and the gym is a living quarter where some team members are residing and assisting with the relief effort.  

    “GoAbroad.com has been married to this city for over a decade,” said Founder and CEO, Troy Peden. “We have a unique opportunity to provide relief on the ground, to a community that has been our home.”

    For those who would like to support the continued relief efforts of GoAbroad.com, as well as receive ongoing updates, please continue sharing and visiting this campaign.     The campaign will collect funds through the GoAbroad Foundation in order for staff to continue providing relief for colleagues and families in the areas affected by the typhoon.
