My Travel Story

by: Kianna McCormack Start Date: Feb 12, 2016 - End Date: Jun 10, 2016
Hello, Some of you already know me but for those of you who do not my name is Kianna and I will be volunteering abroad in Costa Rica for 10 weeks, commencing the end of  March of 2016. Well, hopefully with some help! I live in Canada and I have been in University for two years studying Sciences and Environmental Studies (currently on my 1 year off). This trip will strongly impact my educational interests through allowing me to work hands on with what I study on a daily basis and allow me to make a difference in the community I will be placed in; on smaller scale, the world. I have chosen to be apart of the turtle conservation projects in Costa Rica because turtles are my favourite animal and everyone who knows me, knows this fact about me. I have always had a passion for animals and the habitats they live in. The beauty and simplicity of their world is just so amazing to me and to see it slowly becoming diminished is heart breaking. Costa Rica is not the only place in the world with turtles or for that matter turtle conservation projects, but i thought it would be a great fit for me because I have always been interested in travelling and learning about other cultures and languages one of which i have studied is the Spanish language and culture. I have also heard of the term 'Pura Vida' which I also think I need to experience. All in all this turtle conservation project will be a great experience for me to grow as a person and to explore new horizons...
