Blankets, Food, Hope - Help Children this Winter
My Travel Story
Bringing warmth and hope to street children in Maputo this winter—help us make a difference!
Winter has arrived in Maputo, and while many of us find comfort in warm clothes, blankets, and hot meals, there are countless street children who have none of these. This campaign is a call to action—a heartfelt effort to bring warmth, hope, and dignity to the lives of these vulnerable children during the coldest time of the year.
Maputo is not only the capital of Mozambique but also my home. It is a city full of life and culture, but it is also a place where poverty and inequality are deeply felt, especially by children living on the streets. These children face unimaginable hardships: they sleep on sidewalks, in abandoned buildings, or under makeshift shelters. They lack access to basic needs like food, clothing, and medical care. And during winter, the cold only makes their daily struggle more painful and dangerous.
This project is deeply personal to me. I’ve walked through the neighborhoods of Maputo and seen the reality of street children. I’ve seen them huddled together at night, trying to stay warm. I’ve heard their stories—many of them orphaned, abandoned, or escaping abuse. Their resilience inspires me, but their suffering moves me to act. I cannot stand by and do nothing.
Through this campaign, I am raising funds to provide essential winter supplies: blankets, warm clothes, shoes, and food. With your support, we will distribute these items directly to the children who need them most. Our goal is to not only meet their physical needs but also show them that they are not forgotten, that someone cares.
This campaign also reflects my personal journey. I am committed to building a career in social work, education, and community development. I believe that real change begins at the grassroots level, by identifying the needs of those around us and acting with compassion and courage. This project will allow me to put these values into practice and grow in leadership and service.
Why Maputo? Because it is where I live, and where the need is real and urgent. By starting here, I hope to build a model of care and action that can be expanded to other cities and regions in the future. Every child deserves a chance to feel safe and loved, no matter their circumstances.
Your donation—no matter the amount—will go directly toward helping these children survive the winter with dignity. Together, we can make a real impact. We can turn cold nights into warm ones. We can turn despair into hope. Let’s be the reason a child smiles, feels safe, and believes in a better tomorrow.
Please join me in this mission. Give warmth. Give hope. Give love.
Thank you for your kindness
