My Travel Story

My father is a pastor at a church and he has been on several mission trips. We were supposed to go on a mission trip to Kenya in 2013 and the flight got cancelled three days in a row which cut the trip so short we had to cancel. With busy schedules we and other expenses we haven't been able to even talk about scheduling another mission trip. Ever since I was a kid growing up in the Baptist church I always wanted to visit a less fortunate country and help spread the word of God and experience a different culture. My dad traveled to Africa years ago and I think it changed him into the man his is today. He constantly stays busy reaching out and sharing the gospel with as many as he can. He helps run a recovery program that help people with substance abuse problems through his church which he one of the pastors at. He just graduated with his doctorate and after several years of hard work not only preaching the word of God but studying it as well, always striving to learn more and pass it on to others. Helping people has always been a passion of mine, and if I was given the opportunity to travel to Kenya on a mission trip it would fill me with joy. Also, with my dad just graduating and our relationship weakening over th9e past few years from living miles apart to having really busy schedules, I want to surprise him with plans for a 10 day mission trip to Kenya. Something I've always wanted to do is travel with FCA to spread the word of God and help third world countries kids learn how to play sports as well. After seeing the pictures of my father when he got home from his trip years ago I've always wanted to go as well. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the people with Africa and how grateful they are even considering the living conditions they must undergo every day is priceless.
